The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) is accelerating regulatory reforms to boost the autonomous robot industry.

Autonomous delivery robot company Neubility announced on the 25th that Minister Kim Jeong-kwan visited its headquarters the previous day to listen to on-site feedback and reaffirm his commitment to improving regulations.

Neubility, which provides delivery robot services in partnership with platforms such as Yogiyo, raised concerns about the current certification process during the visit.

CEO Sangmin Lee explained, “To operate outdoor delivery robots, companies must pass 16 different safety certifications, which take at least two months to complete. This makes it difficult to respond quickly to the rapidly changing market environment.”

In response, Minister Kim Jeong-kwan said, “We will boldly integrate or remove certification items that are not directly related to safety and significantly shorten the certification period,” promising to revise related regulations within the year.

He emphasized, “In the AI era, the key is speed—first, second, and third. The entire MOTIE staff will do their utmost to resolve on-site regulatory obstacles as quickly as possible to accelerate innovation.”

Neubility CEO Sangmin Lee added, “The minister’s visit was both an encouragement and an opportunity for Neubility. We showcased our autonomous robot ‘Neubie’ and physical AI technologies while sharing our vision for the future. Neubility will continue to drive greater change on the global stage.”
